Although he just got out of the NHL's COVID-19 protocols, Red Wings left wing Tyler Bertuzzi will remain unvaccinated.
Bertuzzi was activated off the league's protocol list on Monday, . He tested positive with COVID-19 on Dec. 1 and mi sed the past five games while he was under quarantine for 10 days. The left wingalso mi sed another three games earlier in the season because of Canadian border restrictions. However, Bertuzzzi confirmed that his stance on vaccination remains unchanged.
"Natural immunity now," Bertuzzi responded to a question about getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

Bertuzzi signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the Red Wings during the offseason, . Through 20 games this season, he has nine goals and nine a sists. He suffered a slump before he entered into the league's protocols, and produced a mere three points in his past10 games.
Despite his status going into the matchup Tuesday night, Bertuzzi is at risk of mi sing more games later in the season. Canadian minister of public safety on Nov. 19 that, "As of Jan. 15, there will no longer be an exemption in place for profe sional and amateur athletes," meaning that any unvaccinated athletes won't be able to enter the country.
The Red Wings are scheduled to face the Leafs for their next matchup in Canadaon Feb. 26. They have another stretch on the road in mid-March as they're scheduled to face the Flames, Oilers and Canucks.
Obviously it sucks mi sing games, but it is what it is, Bertuzzi said.
