In the world of makeup, Pat McGrath is a BFD. Not only is she the global creative design director at P&G for CoverGirl and Max Factor, but the celebrity makeup artist also recently debuted her own eponymous line that's gaining major buzz in the beauty biz.The first launch of Pat McGrath Lab 001 in October 2015 featured a highly pigmented gold eye shadow that was offered with a spatula, mixing liquid, and a container so you could DIY your own formula ($40). Only 1,000 units were available, and they sold out on her website within minutes.Next, she created a set dubbed Phantom 002, which dropped in mid-December for the holiday season. It included party-ready, jewel-tone shadows in copper, gold, and fuchsia. These saturated powders could be cocktailed with the included black eye gloss, gel liner, blender brush, and flat brush. The 1,200 kits for $250 a pop also sold out rapidly. People were willing to pay that much for Pat's creations without even demoing them beforehand. That is pretty impressive considering it was her first time making her own makeup.Now, we are enthused to reveal that in the coming weeks we will be exclusively chatting with Pat about her next iteration, 003. While we have not seen it yet, we have dug up some teaser details about this launch. Here's what we do know: it was used on the models backstage at the Valentino Fall 2016 Paris Fashion Week Show."I teased the first Pat McGrath Labs product [Gold 001] in Milan during the S/S 2016 shows and it went on to sell out in minutes when it launched the following month," she said in a press release. "Given the inspiration behind the Valentino show that was heavily influenced by the freedom of movement and dance, it simply felt like the ideal moment to debut 003."If you dissect photos from the Valentino show, you'll notice a luminous highlighter placed atop the cheekbones, above the cupid's bow, and in the center of the eyelids. We are led to believe the new wonderworker is some sort of iridescent or pearlized pigment.While we will have to wait to learn more about what it is exactly and when it will be available, we will keep you posted!
