В немецком зоопарке родились детеныши редкой золотой кошки

В немецком зоопарке Allwetter Zoo появились на свет детеныши редкого вида дикой кошки - азиатской золотой кошки. Два котенка родились благодаря успешно проведенному искусственному оплодотворению. Один сейчас находится на попечении мамы-кошки, а второго забрали к себе сотрудники зоопарка и выкармливают искусственно. Так будет больше шансов, что оба детеныша выживут.

Азиатская золотая кошка (темминка) очень редкий вид, находящийся под угрозой полного вымирания. Ареал обитания: Китай (Тибет), Индия, Таиланд, Индонезия (Суматра), Малазийский п-ов, Бирма, Вьетнам, Лаос.

Азиатская золотая кошка крупнее африканской золотой кошки. Чем-то золотая кошка похожа на пуму, кроме окраса и ее крупного размера. Голова небольшая. Лапы длинные, с втяжными когтями, передние короче задних. Когда кошка торопится, она передвигается большими прыжками, отталкиваясь задними и прыгая на передние лапы. В спокойном состоянии ходит "нога в ногу", как домашняя кошка. Нос и подушечки лап - розовые. Уши закругленные. Мех длинный и плотный. Окрас: основной фон тела темно-коричневый. Возле глаз расположены белые полосы. Низ тела и конец хвоста - белые. Размер: сильно варьируется из-за ареала - 66-105 см, длина хвоста - 35-56 см.Вес: 12-16 кг.

Ведет скрытный образ жизни. Численность популяции приблизительно около 10 000 особей.

Местное население охотится на золотого кота ради его костей, которые используются в народной медицине. Считается, что измельченные кости лечат детскую лихорадку. Мясо золотой кошки считается деликатесом. Часто животных преследуют из-за их нападений на домашний скот.
