This Alternate Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher version that was also designed by Damien Phillips to go along with his retail version of the Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher.The Alternate version of the Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher features an all-Black upper that’s built with a mix of suede and textured-graphic leather overlay. It also includes rock ‘n’ roll accents like a guitar pick on the laces and a heel tab that resembles a guitar neck. The Air Jordan 13 Altitude had two different releases, one in 2005 and the most recent in 2010 for the holidays.Both were slightly different, the 2005 came constructed with a Black leather paneling, while the 2010 featured Black mesh. They also had lighter tones of Green shades on each release.Shown here is the 2010 version, that features a Black mesh upper with Altitude Green branding and outsole. Other new features is a re-design of the quarter mesh panels and a brand new premium lace-lock. The Air Jordan 11 Suede is a brand new premium version of the beloved Air Jordan 11 that’s dropping for the 2016 holiday season.We first got a look at the “Suede” Air Jordan 11 from Jordan Brand’s Make-A-Wish experience, as Rhome Simpkins received a pair with his “RS” initials embossed on the heels.Obviously, the retail version will not include those personal details. Swapping out the traditional mesh and patent leather build with a premium hairy suede detail throughout. The shoe is completed with a White midsole and aged translucent outsole. Red accents surround the ankle hologram as well as finding its way down to the midsole. Every wonder how Anthony Hamilton was able to get his own exclusive Air Jordan Collection directly fr om Michael Jordan?Believe it or not, he earned them. Hamilton went on a trip to Mexico with Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand athletes. During the trip, they competed against each other and the winners would receive their own exclusive Air Jordan Collection.“We won the contest and the prize was getting all the Jordans custom made,” explains Hamilton in the piece. “You could only pick two colors, so if you picked black and white they’d all be black and white. So I was like, you know what, I want to do something different, I thought about gold but it might be too shiny. Before the Air Jordan 9 “Space Jam” debuts – which is an original colorway of the silhouette, we go behind the design of the classic Air Jordan.The Air Jordan 9 is, at least at first glance, one of the most simplistic Air Jordan designs. But while the shoe is minimal in construction, it tells one of the deepest stories in the iconic signature series. At the time of the Air Jordan 9’s arrival, MJ was off the court and on the diamond, but his connection to the game was as strong as ever. In addition, his hardwood legacy helped inspire worldwide love for the game.When it came to designing the Air Jordan 9, Tinker Hatfield was once again at the helm, but he was searching for new ways to evolve the signature line. The innovation came in the form of outsole storytelling brought to life by designer Mark Smith. Looking to tell an international basketball story, Hatfield had the idea to make the outsole the narrative’s canvas, and he called on Smith to bring the concept to life.“He said, ‘let’s do an outsole and tell a story…this international story’. And that was a good place to start,” Smith explained as he reminisced on the Air Jordan 9’s earliest days. This “international story” quickly became the driving force behind the shoe.The narrative also allowed for rich storytelling in a fashion Smith knows best: graphics. Through unique globe graphics and phrases in different languages, Smith was able to tell the story of basketball becoming a global game. The phrases incorporated were also different on each shoe in the pair, telling a complete story while keeping each outsole unique. “We were not happy with just taking this one graphic, designing it and flipping it. We definitely wanted to keep it unique,” Smith said.
